Credibility Toolbar

La credibilidad de la información en internet es un tema de discusión habitual. El anonimato y la proliferación de fakes, entre otros usos, generan desconfianza entre los usuarios de la Red. Cada vez sea más difícil saber quién dice qué como para evaluar el contenido con todas las garantías. Por poner un ejemplo reciente: el caso de calumnias que ha sacudido Menéame donde un usuario acusaba pública e injustamente a una persona de un delito (actualizo: ya hay denuncia).
Credibility Commons (blog) es un grupo de trabajo que nació para investigar sobre el problema de la credibilidad en internet. Uno de los primeros instrumentos que ha desarrollado es la Credibility Toolbar, una barra que permite evaluar colaborativamente la credibilidad de los sitios web.

Se trata de un interesante recurso, pero aún se encuentra en fase de desarrollo y con muchos puntos por afinar en su sistema de evaluación. Entre sus debilidades está, por ejemplo, que no es capaz de detectar la dirección de contacto en imagen, que penaliza no proveer de un número de teléfono, así como utilizar servidores gratuitos y que sólo parece rastrear la primera página.
